San Miguel School Chicago is now accepting applications for the 2024–2025 academic year for students entering grades 6–8.

We ask families to complete and submit an application form with the supporting documents listed below and complete an admissions interview. During this time, we also invite families to attend an Open House, visit the school for a tour and schedule a Shadow Day for their child.

  1. Academic record: Preference will be given to students who are currently underperforming, need support in reading and math, struggle with school work, exhibit risky behaviors, or are potentially at risk for school failure.
  2. Community participation: San Miguel is looking for students and families who demonstrate a willingness and desire to join a dynamic faith community focused on Gospel values.
  3. Family income: Priority is given to low-income families. San Miguel seeks families who do not have the economic resources to pay for a Catholic education. Please do not hesitate to apply because you cannot afford the cost of tuition. If you have any questions, contact us at 773.890.1481 or stop by our school office.
  4. Residential status: Families living within the Back of the Yards area will be prioritized in the application process.

Although the actual cost of educating a San Miguel scholar is about $21,000 annually, we set our tuition fees at $1,050 for one child and $550 for every additional sibling to make tuition affordable. We rely on donations from our benefactors and school fundraising activities to cover the rest.

It is our mission to make a Catholic middle school education accessible to all families in the Back of the Yards community. Although tuition is important for the operations of the school, no family will ever be turned away for financial reasons. We offer scholarships and tuition waivers for families in need. Please contact admissions@sanmiguelchicago.org to find out more.

Students are required to wear gray dress pants with a black belt and black dress shoes and short- or long-sleeved polo shirts with our school logo. Students also have the option of wearing a quarter-zip fleece sweatshirt, a full-zip microfleece jacket, or a V-neck button-down sweater cardigan with the school logo. On physical education days, students are allowed to wear joggers, a physical education (PE) t-shirt, and gym shoes. If your family cannot afford to purchase school apparel, please contact us at admissions@sanmiguelchicago.org.
