The application process starts with a simple form. We also want to meet you in person to talk about your child's future.

Steps to Start

  • Submit Your Application: Fill out the application form and provide the required documents.
  • Meet Our Team: We’ll schedule an admissions interview with your family.
  • See Our Campus: We invite you to an Open House and a personal school tour.
  • Experience Our School: Your child can spend a Shadow Day with us to see what it's like to be a San Miguel scholar.

Who We're Looking For

We consider several factors to find students who will benefit most from our unique learning environment.

Admission Priorities

  • Academic Potential: We prioritize students who are underperforming and need extra help in subjects like reading and math. We welcome students who are struggling with schoolwork or show risky behaviors.
  • Family Commitment: We seek students and families who want to be active members of our faith-based community and are dedicated to our Gospel values.
  • Financial Need: We give priority to low-income families. Please do not worry about the cost—we believe a Catholic education should be accessible to everyone.
  • Local Residency: We give priority to families who live in the Back of the Yards area.

Application Requirements

To complete your application, please submit the following documents.

Required Documents

  • Personal Information: A copy of your child’s birth certificate and a small photograph.
  • Health Records: Medical insurance information, vaccination records, and physical, dental, and vision exam results. A sports physical and hearing screening are also needed.
  • School Transcripts: Report cards and standardized test scores for the last two academic years. If applicable, please include any IEP or 504 plans.
  • Income Verification: Your most recent federal tax return or another form of income verification.

Understanding Our Costs

We are committed to making a quality education affordable for all.

Affordable Tuition

The actual cost of educating one student is about $21,000 a year, but our tuition is set at a manageable rate. We ask for just $1,050 for one child and $550 for each additional sibling. The rest is covered by generous donations and fundraising.

Financial Support

No family will be turned away because they can’t afford tuition. We offer scholarships and tuition waivers to families in need. For more details, email admissions@sanmiguelchicago.org.

Our Student Uniform

We require students to wear a uniform to foster a sense of unity and pride.

Uniform Details

Students wear gray dress pants with a black belt and black dress shoes. Polo shirts with our school logo are required. They can also wear a school-logo quarter-zip sweatshirt, full-zip jacket, or V-neck sweater. On gym days, they can wear joggers, a PE t-shirt, and gym shoes. Parent Responsibilities

  • Daily Readiness: Ensure your child arrives at school on time, well-rested, and ready to learn.
  • Fundraising: Participate in school fundraising to help keep tuition low for all.
  • Stay Connected: Attend all parent conferences to stay informed about your child’s progress.
  • Parent Workshops: Attend workshops on topics like teenage development to better support your child.
